Imperial Palace, Asakusa, Meiji Jingu and Shibuya

A friendly couple came to Tokyo from Canada.

We explored Imperial Palace, Asakusa Sensoji Temple, Meiji Jingu Shrine and Shibuya.

The Imperial Palace

We met at the hotel located in West Shinjuku. West Shinjuku is the modern district with tall buildings. We moved to the Imperial Palace by Tokyo Metro.

The Imperial Palace is the former Edo-Castle. My guests enjoyed the historical ruined castle and its beautiful Japanese garden.

ASAKUSA

Asakusa is a very traditional town. There is the oldest temple in Tokyo. After we visited the Buddhism temple, we walked around the street and had a seafood lunch at Izakaya restaurants.

Depa-Chika (Food Market )

Visiting a market is a good idea to know the food culture of the country. In Tokyo, it's the Depa-Chika. Depa-Chika means the basement floor of a department store. In Japan, most of all department stores have food stores in the basement. We visited Mitsukoshi department in Nihonbashi district. They offer a variety of Japanese foods. My guests were interested in the unique Japanese local foods.

Meiji-jingu shrine

Meiji-Jingu is a Shinto shrine located in Harajuku. Today, we encountered Japanese traditional style wedding ceremony. It was highly impressive.

Shibuya

Finally, we arrived Shibuya known with the world busiest crossing and Hachi dog statue. My guests were very excited when they walk across the scramble crossing.
